Explainability Layer
Produces human-readable explanations, patch summaries, and documentation updates for every debugging cycle.
The Explainability Layer is responsible for turning Chronos’ internal reasoning and debugging processes into clear, human-readable outputs.
Its purpose is to ensure that every fix, patch, and decision is fully transparent and understandable to engineers.
What the Explainability Layer Produces
Root Cause Explanations
Chronos-1 generates detailed breakdowns of why an issue occurred, supported by evidence chains.
These explanations trace the origin of the failure and outline the exact reasoning behind the identified root cause.
Fix Rationale Documentation
For every patch, Chronos-1 produces documentation describing:
- why the fix was chosen
- how it resolves the issue
- which parts of the system are affected
This helps teams review and validate changes with confidence.
Automated PR Descriptions & Commit Messages
The layer automatically formats all patches with:
- clear PR summaries
- descriptive commit messages
- contextual notes
This ensures consistency and reduces manual overhead during code review.
Risk Assessment Reports
Chronos-1 generates reports outlining potential risks associated with a fix, including:
- areas of code that could be impacted
- related components that may need review
- any underlying patterns that might require future attention
These reports help teams anticipate side effects and plan follow-up actions when needed.
